Cheap and Expensive Electric Cars to Buy in 2020

Electric cars or vehicles:

Electric cars are designed to operate on electricity at least in part. Electric vehicles, in contrast to traditional vehicles that use gasoline or diesel engines, use electric motors powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel cell.

In Nigeria, Stallion Motors, one of the country’s auto assemblers and a franchise for nine global brands, announced that the country’s first electric car, the Hyundai-Kona, would be released before the end of the year and will only cost N316 to completely charge. JET Motors is another major automaker in Nigeria that is pioneering the production of electric vehicles. It recently raised $9 million from foreign investors to support its electric vehicle production. The Jet EV electric vehicle already has a prototype that has been tested for a 300-kilometer journey (from Lagos to Benin), and the trip was said to be completed on a single charge.

Electric vehicles, like traditional vehicles, have a range of systems that can meet the needs of different drivers.

Types of electric vehicles:

There are three major types of electric vehicles, which are classified based on how much electricity is used as a source of energy. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are the three categories (HEVs).

Battery Electric vehicles (BEVs):

BEVs, also known as electric vehicles (EVs), are fully electric vehicles with rechargeable batteries but no gasoline engine. Electricity from external sources is used to charge BEVs, which is contained in high-capacity battery packs. BMW i3, Chevrolet Bolt, Chevrolet Spark, Ford Focus Electric, Hyundai Ioniq, Karma Revera, Kia Soul, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S, Tesla X, Toyota Rav4, and Volkswagen e-Golf are all examples of BEVs.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)

The PHEVs use batteries to power an electric motor, tap into the grid to charge, and power an internal combustion engine with another petroleum-based or renewable fuel. Standard hybrids can only go around 1-2 miles before the gasoline engine kicks in, while PHEVs can go anywhere from 10 to 40 miles before the gas engine kicks in. Audi A3 E-Tron, BMW 330e, BMW i8, BMW X5 xdrive40e, Chevy Volt, Chrysler Pacifica, Ford Fusion Energi, Mercedes C350e, Mercedes GLE550e, Mercedes S550e, Mini Cooper SE Countryman, Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, Toyota Prius, and Volvo XC90 T8 are all examples of hybrid vehicles.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)

HEVs are usually powered by a combination of electricity and gasoline. The electric energy to recharge the battery is produced by the car’s own braking system. The HEVs are designed to start off by initially using the electric motor, then switches to the gasoline engine as the load or speed increases. Examples of HEVs are Toyota Prius Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid

Benefits of Electric Cars:

Environmental Benefits:

One of the advantages of driving an electric car is the positive impact it can have on our climate. Pure electric vehicles do not emit exhaust gases, which helps to reduce local air pollution, particularly in congested areas. Electric cars are a viable option for improving air quality, which would increase health and well-being in the long run.

Lower Costs:

As opposed to gasoline or diesel, one of the benefits of electric cars is their low cost of operation. Electric vehicles need less maintenance and are easier to service.

Reduce Noise Pollution:

Not only has air pollution been reduced, but noise pollution has also been reduced. Electric cars have the advantage of being much quieter than gasoline and diesel vehicles. As a result, noise emissions will be reduced, which would favor both suburban and city center areas.
